Business Tax Account Online Renewal

Eligibility

Most commercial-based business tax certificates may be renewed online. If you have a business that is ineligible to renew online, please contact our Revenue Division for assistance, at (510) 494-4790.

Renewal notices are sent by email and also mailed, approximately 60 days prior to the expiration of your business tax certificate. If you cannot edit specific information or renew online, you must renew by mail or in person.

To update the owner, location, or name of your business, please complete your online renewal and then contact the City of Fremont Revenue Division, at businesstax@fremont.gov or (510) 494-4790, for instructions on how to update your business tax account.

Process

Your business tax certificate will be mailed approximately ten (10) business days after completing the online renewal process, provided no further information is needed.

Please Note: If your business operations in Fremont have stopped and you do not wish to renew your City of Fremont business tax account, you must notify us as follows:

1. Inform us that you wish to close your Fremont business tax account (even if your business remains open).
2. Specify the date that your Fremont business stopped.
3. Report your gross receipts, up until the time of closure of your Fremont business operations.

Failure to renew or provide this notice may result in a business tax citation.
